Albanian Festival planned
for June 2, 3 & 4, 2023
The Co-Chairs of the Albanian Festival and St. Mary’s Parish Council unanimously agreed to postpone the Albanian Festival until June 2, 3 & 4, 2023. This decision wasn’t made lightly. There were several factors that went into this decision. First and foremost was the health and safety of our volunteers and thousands of guests. Simple things are now big things. How could we safely bring dozens of our seniors to the Church Hall and make pastries? What considerations will the health department place on how to cook and serve the food? How many people will they allow us to have? What seating considerations will need to be made? What food serving enhancements will we need to make for the food line and snack shack? How can the kids practice dance routines? Will the health department allow signing and dancing? There are no great answers or solutions.
The second major consideration was knowing that many of our business partners are dealing with difficult economic situations. Asking them for their help, once again, wouldn’t be fair to them. It really needs to be the opposite, as a Community, we will need to continue to try and support them as best we can during the next 6-12 months.
The Festival is a major source of revenue which has allowed us to preserve our faith and identity here in America. As this revenue will be lost, we will be needing individuals that are in a good financial position to enhance their financial stewardship. Please continue to be generous even when it hurts a bit. In 2023 we will continue to put on the oldest and largest Albanian Festival in America!
